Tomb of Dracula (1972) 11

Tomb of Dracula (1972) 11
Aug 1973

The Voodoo-Man!
by Marv Wolfman, Gene Colan, Jack Abel, Petra Goldberg, Tom Orzechowski, Roy Thomas

Dracula flies back from the ship and hunts for the motorcycle gang that kicked him while he was down in Tomb of Dracula 9 (Jun 1973). He finds them while they are doing some dirty work for Jason Faust, a man trapped in an iron lung.

Faust wants revenge on the few people he holds responsible for his condition: a banker, a former business partner, and Quincy Harker. The motorcycle gang, led by Lucas Brand, serve as Faust's angels of death with some help from Faust’s voodoo dolls.

Dracula catches up to Lucas Brand and his motorcycle gang as they are getting ready to bump off Harker. Dracula turns Brand into a vampire and sends him back to deal with the mostly helpless Faust. He hypnotizes the rest of the motorcycle gang and sends them off on a suicide ride over the white cliffs of Dover.

Thoughts

Rachel Van Helsing and Frank Drake make a brief appearance in this issue.

This issue, as with the last one, seems to affirm that Dracula, not the vampire hunters, is the main character in this series.

The story in this issue felt a bit rushed. I like the twists and turns that it takes but maybe if it had a few more pages or was spread across a couple issues it might work better for me.
