A team from the New Eden Police Department locates and arrests Lenny Davis, the man who robbed the bank. Davis puts up a fight. He blindsides Kane. Lovett stands by and doesn’t lift a finger to help Kane. Kate Felix steps in and deals with Davis.

Meyer, the bank employee who walked out of the bank in the previous issue with a bag full of cash only to return later after getting stuck in traffic and almost losing the money, is asked to pick Davis out of a lineup.

Dark Opal commissions his blacksmith to make him a breastplate that will incorporate all twelve of the gemstones. He is only missing one, the amethyst. Dark Opal gives the other gemstones to Karnelian, his son, trusting him to keep an eye over the valuables.

Princess Amethyst, traveling with Granch, an ogre like being, arrives in the Bog of One Thousand Despairs. Citrina, her mother, has sent her there on a mission. Dark Opal finds out about Amethyst’s journey and sees an opportunity to complete his collection of gemstones.

New Eden Police Officer Page chases a wanted man whose face she recognizes from a wanted poster. Mister Floppsie Whoppsie, the man in the bunny suit, is on the run from a mob hit man. Page and the Mister Floppsie Whoppsie cross paths just as the hit man catches up to him. He is standing on the hood of a car that is stuck in traffic at the time. The car is being driven by a bank teller who just robbed the bank where he works. He himself was robbed by a teenager but Office Page returns the bag of cash to him, not realizing what he has done or what is in the bag.

The Senator’s Been Shot!

Green Arrow and Batman, individually, consider giving up their costumed crime fighting careers. They are brought together, in costume, by two men; one of whom has kidnapped the other. Both superheroes, not knowing what the other has done, share their secret identity with the same psychiatrist, Edmond Cathcart. Not only does Edmond know both Ollie Queen and Bruce Wayne but he is also the son of Senator Cathcart, who is almost killed in the opening page of the story.

Edmond is kidnapped by Miklos Minotaur, the gangster responsible for the attempt on his father’s life. Batman and Green Arrow join forces to rescue Edmond for both selfish and unselfish reasons. Neither of them knows the other’s secret identity or that they have just as much to lose if Minotaur gets Edmond to divulge their secret identities.

Doc Savage slowly regains consciousness. Doc and Chip butt heads over what do do about Dr. Wessel. Doc and his friends leave Central America and return to the United States.

Chip finds his own way back to the US but catches up to his grandfather just as he is getting ready to deal with Dr. Wessel, who is a top the World Trade Center. Doc and his grandson scale one of the towers (without equipment) and prevent Dr. Wessel from annihilating humanity.

Black Canary gets hit by a truck while on the phone with Green Lantern. She had figured out the whereabouts of Oliver Queen. She was in a phone booth, relaying that information to Green Lantern, when she was hit.

Black Canary needs a blood transfusion and Ollie is the only person he knows that has a compatible blood type. Green Lantern uses the information Black Canary gave him and locates Ollie. He finds the Emerald Archer in a monastery in the mountains of California.

Return to the Silver Pyramid

Monk, Ham, Renny, Johnny, and Beau are taken in chains to see Dr. Wessel. He tells them about his plans and what he knows about what happened to Doc Savage when he was zapped in 1945. They fight back against the guards and free themselves but Dr. Wessel escapes.

Chip flies to Central America and finds Shoshanna. Together they break into the Silver Pyramid and search for their friends. They find them but Monk accidentally shoots Chip in the chest. Chip survives thanks to the vest he is wearing.

Green Lantern searches for Green Arrow without success. Black Canary, who was also searching for Green Arrow, almost get killed by a cult. Green Lantern shows up just in time to rescue her.

Green Arrow leaves Star City in the Arrow Plane, without telling anyone what he is doing. He ejects from his plane, parachutes down into a mountainous region, and watches the Arrow Plane crash into a mountain. He walks for a long time before finding a monastery where he asks for sanctuary. He is still angry at himself for killing someone.

The first seven pages of this issue are set in 1966 and are about Clark Savage, the son of Doc Savage. Clark is dead by the end of this section of the book.

The rest of this issue is set in 1987, the present, and focuses on Ham, Monk, Renny, and Johnny. Long Tom appears briefly in this issue but he has left the team, lives in a monastery in Missouri, and now goes by the name of Brother Thomas. There are two new members of the team, both much younger than the four remaining members of the squad. Shoshanna Gold is from Israel and can sense things using ESP. Beauregard Faulkner is from the American South.

He is outside, breaking up the fight when Ollie’s apartment building blows up.

The Heritage of Doc Savage: Part One - Into the Silver Pyramid

Aug 15, 1945 - Doc Savage meets with his men in a French restaurant near Times Square, in New York City. They have just returned from a mission behind enemy lines but now the war, World War II, is over and everyone is celebrating. Someone has targeted Doc and his men. They survive the attempt on their lives but one of them, Long Tom, gets shot and has to be taken to a hospital.

Doc and the other four fly south in his seaplane to the Hidden Valley. Savage suspects, correctly, that Dr. Wessel, a Nazi scientist, may be behind the attempt on their lives. They arrive and find that their headquarters has been infiltrated. The dead bodies of friends and foes, including Savage’s father-in-law, are strewn everywhere.

Green Lantern and Green Arrow take Carol Ferris to visit Ferris Aircraft’s facility in the city of Abraham. There they meet Isaac, a young man who has been causing trouble for Ferris Aircraft because it has been polluting the environment.

Green Arrow has a nasty encounter with the guards at Ferris Aircraft. Green Lantern tries to arrest Isaac but Green Arrow objects and the two get into a fight. The guards at Ferris Aircraft breakup the fight and arrest GL, GA, and Isaac.

The heroes eventually break free but not soon enough for Isaac. He is dead by the time they get to him. Hal angrily destroys the latest and greatest experimental aircraft that Ferris Aircraft was working on.

The Crimson Avenger

Oct 31, 1938 - Lee Travis, publisher of the Globe-Leader, a New York City newspaper, is interviewed by Claudia Barker for a profile in the Downtowner magazine. He tells her about his aborted attempt to serve in the Abraham Lincoln Brigade during the Spanish Civil War and how his uncle bequeathed him the Globe-Leader.

Travis goes to a costume party that night hosted by the Vangilders, who are are raising money for Chinese people affected by the Japanese invasion of their country. Travis is dressed as a Highway Robber. A group of armed men, dressed as “Martians”, crash the party, kill a few people (including Claudia Barker), and escape.

Travis and Wing, his driver, chase after the costumed robbers and almost get killed. They are saved at the last minute by a shotgun toting farmer. Travis recovers Claudia Barker’s gold plated lighter which bears the saying Qui Vidicet Ibit, An Avenger Will Come.
