Terry and the Pirates (34)

Vol. 5: 1943-1944
By Milton Caniff

Indian Intrigue
Oct 25 - Dec 24, 1944

This is the eighth of twelve stories in what Carl Horak, author of the Terry and the Pirates Companion, considers to be the fourth era of Caniff’s run on the strip. This era began in late Jan 1942 and ran through early Nov 1945 and is called The War Years in the companion book.

The Wikipedia article on Terry and the Pirates breaks the entire series down into 60 arcs. It breaks this arc down into the following arcs:

50 - "Willow Kidnapped" (10/25/44 to 12/25/44)

03/04/24
Oct 26-28, 1944 - Willow waits in a hotel room for her flight home, sad that she will never see Terry again. Two WACs, Sergeant Jane Allen and Corporal Jane McGillicudy, arrive in town together, ready for some R&R. They check into the same hotel where Willow is staying. Flip starts to tell Terry about what he has planned for him.

Terry and the Pirates (33.B)

Vol. 5: 1943-1944
By Milton Caniff

Corkin’s Alley
May 21 - Oct 24, 1944

This is the sixth of twelve stories in what Carl Horak, author of the Terry and the Pirates Companion, considers to be the fourth era of Caniff’s run on the strip. This era began in late Jan 1942 and ran through early Nov 1945 and is called The War Years in the companion book.
The Wikipedia article on Terry and the Pirates breaks the entire series down into 60 arcs. It breaks this arc down into the following arcs:

48 - "Jungle Monkeyshines" (5/20/44 to 7/24/44)
49 - "Honor Among Correspondents" (7/25/44 to 10/24/44)

01/16/24

Jul 24-26, 1944 - Miss Cheddo (Burma) and Willow start to settle down in the space they are given to live on the airbase.

Burma tells Major Oley, the ranking officer, that Willow’s parents own the land that the base is on. I’m not sure where that came from but Burma doesn’t want to return to India where it is much more likely she will get arrested.
