Chapter Four

Two days ago, as VEIL was attacking Dante Alderman’s island, Agent Rook tried to engage Alderman in a conversation but Alderman ended the conversation fairly abruptly.

In the present, the SADIKS pulls Annalise out of the water. She has lost an arm. It gives her one of its arms, steals a vehicle, and tries to get to somewhere safe. They stop in a town. Annalise gets out and talks to some kids. Rook shows up and tries to take her but the SADIKS interferes with that plan. Annalise and the SADIKS get away in Rook’s car, leaving him behind. The vehicle they were in was totaled during the fight with Rook.

Jan 22-23, 1960 - Adam and Joel arrive home. Bessie is working on dinner. Adam wants to know where Susie and Buzz are at. Bessie has no idea. Adam goes looking for his two youngest kids. They are hiding in his studio. Susie tells Buzz to keep quiet. Their faces are dirty.

I have no idea what Susie and Buzz have been doing. Maybe they will play a bigger role in this arc than they did in the first two arcs.

This story, according to the note on page seven, is about the underworld, presumably the criminal underworld. For the most part what I found in this issue was a story about four police officers. I’m not sure how they directly and indirectly interact with the criminal underworld. Maybe this issue is the preface or the introduction. Maybe some of these police officers have ties to the criminal underworld or will develop them as the story evolves. I don’t know.

Tara, Robin, and Malo land near the city of Xeros because their ship is in need of repairs. They help Tarman after he attempted to assassinate Bharbon, the tyrant who runs the city with an iron fist. Myrene, Tarman’s daughter, is engaged to Bharbon but not by choice. Tarman doesn’t learn this fact until later, soon before he is murdered by Armos, Bharbon’s enforcer.

The Coming of… Dragon Lord!

Ral Dorn flees to Earth, pursued by the Dragon Riders. He crosses paths with the Fantastic Four. The Thing trusts him but the Human Torch does not. Ral Dorn, whose father was a Dragon Rider and who also aspires to be one, tells them that he has been accused of murdering the dragon younglings that he cared for. He also tells them about Lalique, his girlfriend, whom they meet later in the story.

The Fantastic Four help Ral Dorn to locate Dragon Man. Ral Dorn is convinced that Dragon Man will be his steed. The Dragon Riders catch up to Ral Dorn and the Fantastic Four just as they arrive in the abandoned mine where Dragon Man lived. A fight breaks out with the Fantastic Four siding with their new friend. The fight ends when Ral Dorn, Dragon Man, and the Invisible Girl vanish before their eyes.

Annalise continues to "misbehave" as she seeks to get revenge on anyone she perceives to have anything to do with the death of her father. 

Dante Alderman transferred his memories into the SADIKS that accompanied Annalise when she left the island.

Lord Mortus questions Annalise and the robot. He didn’t know that the Vitruvian had a daughter. He doesn’t believe her at first.

Simon Slaughter has a chat with Zack. He explains his master plan. He wants to work with Zack. Together they can take down Plan Nine and SOS. Zack thinks the plan stinks. He gets into a fight with Slaughter and kills him. Zoe, Von Chance, and a contingent of SOS troops arrive on the scene soon thereafter.

Zack tries to explain what Slaughter had in mind. They don’t buy what he’s telling them. He winds up back in prison.

Batman fights off a werewolf that attacks a woman. The werewolf escapes while Batman is forced to abandon the fight after the werewolf throws the woman out a window. Batman goes to see commissioner Gordon, after rescuing the woman.

The werewolf goes to see Doctor Milo, after the fight with Batman. He changes back into a man, Anthony Lupus. Milo helped Lupus overcome debilitating headaches by accelerating his proclivity for lycanthropy. Milo now demands that Lupus kill Batman before he cures Lupus of lycanthropy.

They arrive on Titan with Dallas hot on their trail. Only they have the key to unlock the building where the weapon is kept.
