Milos organizes an army of Martians against the small group of Morgana and her friends. The human group fights back with collars that allow them to project illusions. The Martian forces don’t fare well. They don’t realize that the creatures they are fighting aren’t real.

Milos enters the fray as he fears his forces will be defeated. Morgana leaves the battle to look for Fawn whom she fears is in danger. Milos is killed. The Martian forces are defeated. Morgana and Fawn, thinking that their side has lost, depart the area without verifying what they fear may have transpired.

Dan, the other remaining detective, doesn’t feel the same and sticks around.

Chance gets coached by McGee in hitting. He studies videotape of Larry hitting and in the next game he hits two homeruns. Things are looking up for Larry but then the mob steps in again. They threaten to expose the fact that Larry had been using illegal steroids. 

Larry refuses to play ball with the mob so they send someone to his home. Alisha, Larry’s wife, is murdered. Chance deals with the mobsters but then finds letters that indicate Alisha maybe was having an affair with Ruben Valdez. He destroys all the evidence and then tells the ball team’s managers that he was unable to figure out why Valdez committed suicide.

Everyone gets sick. Morgana sorts through recordings from past missions to Mars looking for information that will help them find the cure. She finds something and it leads her to the answer. 

Thoughts

The story still feels like it is moving too fast. I'm still not getting this story. I don't just mean that I don't understand it but that it isn't entertaining me or making me think. It feels rushed, but I'm not sure why.

Christopher Chance is hired by a major league baseball team to find out why Ruben Alfredo Valdez, one of their star players, killed himself. Chance impersonates Larry McGee, an African-American ball player who is in danger of being traded by New York to another team. 

This issue ends with Chance finding out that he is going to have to play in a game as McGee, which really makes him nervous.

A man dressed in white, his face obscured by a hood, visits Bova the cow-woman in her cabin on Wundagore Mountain. He seeks information. He leaves once she has told him the names of the children that were entrusted to her years before. 

Scarlet Witch and Vision arrive on the Moon. Quicksilver and Crystal greet them, as do Crystal’s relatives (Medusa, Black Bolt, Karnak, Gorgon). They originally intended to bring Nuklo with them but he has been healed of his deadly curse. The doctors of Attilan, instead, examine and repair the Vision’s partially severed arm.

Morgana and Vanessa get everyone to detox. Winston has the toughest time with the detox process. He escapes while he is detoxifying. Morgana and Josh chase after him. 

Fawn spends most of this chapter on the run from some wolf-like creatures. The creatures finally catch up to her about the same time that she catches up to Morgana and Josh, which is not long after they have caught up to Winston. 

Fawn explains the the creatures were sent by Milos, who wants to kill them all.
