- Jim Shooter shares a little bit about his 30th birthday party, and the upcoming DC/Marvel crossover titles: X-Men/New Teen Titans and JLA/Avengers
- Archie Goodwin shares a little about the upcoming issue of Epic Illustrated which includes a story that was written by Chris Claremont and drawn by John Bolton called Marada the She-Wolf; originally it was slated to run in Bizarre Adventures; since running in Epic Illustrated in 1982 the story was reprinted a couple times, once in 1985 and then much later in 2013

Who Killed Trident?

Who is Trident? He was a villain who wielded a trident which fired various kinds of power bolts. The issue opens as the police fish him out of the river with some help from Aqualad, who quickly departs. Trident’s weapon is buried in his back. The Titans are there to observe. They’ve had encounters with Trident in the past. They take turns telling their stories.

The Man Who Made a Difference!

Captain America is attacked while giving a speech at De Witt Clinton High School. The attacker pulls a gun and claims that Cap knows nothing about what life is really like for most Americans. He’s tired of hearing about the American Dream and says Captain America knows nothing about the American Reality.

Steve Rogers and Bernie Rosenthal share a romantic evening in his apartment. All is going well until he starts acting cold and aloof. His mind is still on what happened earlier in the day. She storms out when he won't share what's bothering him.

Eye of the Storm

Altar Boy’s educated guess was correct. Confessor is a vampire. He came to Astro City in 1869. He was a priest at that time. He was bit by a woman with flashing eyes. It wasn’t until he saw Air Ace, one of the first superheroes that he saw a possible way to redeem himself.

The Honor Guard has an encounter with an alien scout ship between the Earth and the Moon. They are victorious but they refuse to turn the ship over to the authorities. The mayor insists and declares them all outlaws when they won’t comply with his orders. He orders all vigilantes arrested and uses the EAGLE troops to enforce his orders.

Thunder and Lightning!

The Titans return from Zandia, ready for some down time. Robin is in a bad mood. He doesn’t want to talk to anyone. Terra wants to know more about her teammates, like their secret identities. Cyborg puts the kibosh on that idea. Roy says goodbye to the team. He tries kissing Starfire on the way out the door but she doesn’t care for his approach and slugs him.

Flight from Thunderhead!

So good. Not a great story but there’s a lot here that I love.

Cap and Spider-Man escape falling to their deaths thanks to Sultan. The villain screws up and Captain America takes advantage of the situation. Sultan sends his biotronic units after Captain America. As he falls to the ground he is surrounded by flying killer robots. As he fights them and falls he preaches about the good fight and why he will never surrender to mad man like Sultan. Cap twists and turns as he falls before ripping a jet pack off of one of the flying biotrons.

The Gathering Dark

There are a couple killers on the loose. One is an assassin, the Gunslinger. Confessor and Choir Boy do battle with him, first in Astro City and then later in Shadow Hill. The other killer’s identity is unknown. He has killed a number of innocents. No one, including superheroes have been able to find him.

Mario Cassamento explains all to Huntress. He was in love with her mother. Her father was abusive towards her mother, before and after he found out about her affair. Years later, Cassamento was hired by Mandragora to kill Helena‘s family. Cassamento told the killers to spare Helena’s mother. They misunderstood his instructions and spared Helena instead of her mother.

Thunderhead!

Peter Parker rushes to help an innocent civilian who looks like he is about to get mugged. The civilian turns out to be Steve Rogers. Peter is stunned when he sees Steve, whom he met for the first time earlier that day, beat up the thugs.

Peter changes into costume after parting ways with Steve. He tails him until Steve makes a call at a phone booth and then disappears. Spider-Man lands a spider tracer on Steve's back as he vanishes. Spidey is then attacked by two men who appear out of nowhere. He fights them off easily enough and discovers a secret installation in the side of the building next to the phone booth where Steve disappeared.
