My first issue of Captain America, the first one that I owned, was Captain America 263. It was the first issue in my subscription to Captain America, which lasted for around 16 months. That issue was part three of a three-part story. J.M. DeMattheis was the writer and Mike Zeck was the penciler of that story. Was it a great story? Probably not but I have fond memories of it.
I went back in 2018 and started to read my way through the issues that DeMattheis and Zeck wrote and drew, starting with 258 and ending with 301. They didn't work on all of the issues in that run but Zeck's personal run did start with 258 and DeMattheir' personal run did end with 301.
I have tagged all of the issues listed below as being part of Cap 1981-84. Some of them were Captain America annuals and some were issues of other series that tied into stories in this run but for the most part it is issues of .Captain America. It took me over five years to get through all these issues. I have grouped and sorted them in the order that I read them from 2018 to 2022.
