Chance, disguised as Frank White, takes the ransom to the appointed place. It runs out to be a trap. Ronan is waiting for him but Ronan is the one who springs the trap on the man who looks like his father. Pete, Ronan’s accomplice, starts a fire in the room and is getting ready to kill Chance but instead turns his gun on Ronan, because Pete wants all of the ransom money for himself.

Frank walks in and shoots Pete, wounding but not killing him. Frank answers Chance’s questions about what’s really going on. Frank is about to kill Chance when Pete shoots him in the knee. Frank kills Pete and then gets into a fight with Chance as the room gets consumed by flames. One man leaves the building.

Chance, still disguised as King, visits Conchita’s apartment. He goes out looking for her. Bruno calls Chris, tells him that Dai Thomas called, he wants to talk. Chance goes to see him. They get into an argument. Dai retreats into his home. Chance slips and hits his head and gets knocked out. Someone kills Thomas while Chance is unconscious.

The police show up while Chance is still in Dai Thomas’ house. He has to fight his way out of there. He goes to see Frank and Mary White. He assures them that he had nothing to do with the death of Dai Thomas, which is all over the news.

Part Two: An Actor Prepares

Chance locates the apartment of Davey King, the guy who tried to kill Dai Thomas. Chance suspects that King is the one who abducted Ronan White. He finds a screenplay that King wrote: Final Cut. The phone rings while he is there. The answering machine picks up. Conchita is reaching out to Davey, her boyfriend. She wants to see him.

Chance picks up the phone while she is still on the line and begins to impersonate King. He goes to see her but she’s got company when he gets there, guys who are looking for the money she stole and, now that she has told them about Davey’s blackmail operation, they want that money too. Davey kills them but not before one of them jabs him with a syringe.

Part One: How to Succeed in Hollywood!

Someone is blackmailing actors and killing them when they don’t pay up. Christopher Chance, the Human Target, impersonates actor Dai Thomas, one of the targets of the blackmailer(s). Chance, disguised as Thomas, deals with someone who comes after Thomas.

Conchita, a stripper, does something for Davey, her boyfriend. She kills and takes money from some guys whom she suspects are up to no good. She leaves a message on his answering machine, explains what she’s done.

Christopher impersonates Tom. He spends a day as Tom with Becky and her son. The next day he impersonates the Reverend Earl James and spends time with Bethany as they prepare for the funerals. 

Emerald sets a trap for whomever is going to impersonate the Earl James. Chance doesn’t foresee Amber might strike again but Tom does and breaks into the church to warn him in the middle of the funeral.

Dee Noyz is at the funeral and is killed protecting "Earl James". Emerald asks Chance for a favor as she lays in his arms dying. He asks her for the name of her employer. Her last words are a repeat of what she said on the first page of the first installment in this story. 

The story ends with Chris doing what he can to help Tom reestablish his relationship with Becky.

Earl James is dead, by his own hand. Tom assumes his identity once again, in a very public way.

Emerald tries to kill Christopher Chance once again. This time she targets the right man but is unable to complete the job. Chance gets the upper hand in the fight but doesn’t kill her even though she has been hired to kill him. 

Tom checks in with Becky, his wife. He is disguised as Earl James at the time. He proposes a solution to their marital problems. Becky isn’t okay with Tom’s solution. Her rejection pushes him to leave.

Chance and Chance (Tom McFadden) start to talk. The conversation is just getting underway when Emerald, the assassin, returns. The fight spills out on to the street. A couple of innocent people are killed as she tries to kill both Chances. She disappears in the confusion that erupts.

Dee Noyz, a gang leader, learns from a woman who owes him that Reverend Earl James isn’t everything that he claims to be.

Christopher Chance, the Human Target, turns down a job impersonating a man who has survived an attempt on his life. The man got extensive facial reconstructive surgery and at the time he talks to the Human Target he is wearing a full face mask. 

The Human Target accepts a job impersonating an African American minister. An attempt on the the Human Target’s life is made while he is delivering a sermon, disguised as the minister. The Human Target completes the assignment successfully.
