Which Way the Wind Blows
Part One: Living in Amerika
by Peter Milligan, Cliff Chiang, Lee Loughridge, Clem Robbins, Karen Berger

Someone is hunting down and killing the surviving members of a cell of the Weathermen. Sandra Appelbaum and Charlie Rivers, two of the remaining members, suspect that Jim Malloy, another member of the cell, may be the killer. Charlie gets paranoid. He’s got a wife and two teenage kids. He’s got too much to lose.

Christopher Chance, looking for a change of pace, moves to Middlerock, the town where Charlie lives. Chance goes out for a walk one night. Charlie spots him headed towards his home. He aims his rifle at Chance.

Thoughts

The first half dozen pages of this story are a flashback to 1971 when the cell was literally blown apart.

Sandra did time in prison for her part in the crimes committed by the cell. Charlie did not and the FBI is still looking for him.

Is Jim Malloy really the killer? That seems a little too simple.

There is very little of the Human Target in this chapter. It’s funny how Chance claims to be looking for a change of pace and yet he brings a duffel bag full of guns with him.

I’ve read this story before, around 20 years ago, but I don’t remember what comes next.
