Return to the Silver Pyramid

Monk, Ham, Renny, Johnny, and Beau are taken in chains to see Dr. Wessel. He tells them about his plans and what he knows about what happened to Doc Savage when he was zapped in 1945. They fight back against the guards and free themselves but Dr. Wessel escapes.
Chip flies to Central America and finds Shoshanna. Together they break into the Silver Pyramid and search for their friends. They find them but Monk accidentally shoots Chip in the chest. Chip survives thanks to the vest he is wearing.
Doc Savage wakes up far from Earth. He asks questions and gets some answers from a disembodied voice. Doc asks to be sent back to Earth. The voice expresses some doubt as to whether he will survive the trip but sends him anyway. Doc Savage materializes, unconscious, in the room where his friends are located. Shoshanna probes his mind but can’t make sense of what she sees.
Thoughts
I think this story was meant to set the scene for the ongoing series that followed this mini-series.
I’m still not loving this story. It feels very rushed and slapped together.
