Ikigami: The Ultimate Limit Vol 5
By Motoro Mase
Episode 10: Honor and Duty
Act 2
Fujimoto has a chat with Ishii, his boss, about Ikuhiko’s reaction to the Ikigami. Ishii encourages Fujimoto to be happy that Ikuhiko was happy. He reminds Fujimoto that he is always there to listen and will only chide him if he expresses any doubts about the National Welfare Act. Someone else might report him, someone like Dr. Kubo.
Ikuhiko received the notice on Saturday morning. He gets his class to come in and share his final hours. Ikuhiko is very happy, so happy that he is crying. Everyone else is in tears also including their teacher. Everything in going well until Ikuhiko overhears Kitayama, one of his classmates, complaining about him and saying that everyone thinks he’s annoying.
Ikuhiko pulls Kitayama in front of everyone and demands to know who else said insulting things about him. Kitayama is scared he will get reported as a social miscreant so he names one person who names a couple others and within minutes everyone is telling on everyone else. The class is in complete chaos.
Ikuhiko says that he is going to report them all. He pulls out his mobile phone but before he can make a call he gets tackled by a bunch of his classmates and the teacher. They have him down on the ground but then he breaks free and starts to make a run for it.
Thoughts
That was amazing. The tension really got ratcheted up in this installment. The story was creepy and intense enough, to begin with, but once Ikuhiko overheard Kitayama talking bad about him on his mobile phone it rose to a new level. I am very eager to see how this episode wraps up.
