Manhunter
Chapter 1: The Himalayan Incident
by Archie Goodwin, Walt Simonson, Klaus Janson, Ben Oda
Haj the Ancient tells Interpol agent Christine St. Clair what he knows about Paul Kirk, the Manhunter. The masked man arrived in Nepal recently. He tricked some locals into leading him to the Pendrang monastery in a hidden valley. The monastery was guarded by three blind archers. They slowed him down but did not stop him.
The Manhunter found his target, Dharmata. Three assassins disrupt their meeting. Manhunter stops them, kills them. They were dressed as monks but when Dharmata removes their hoods he notices that they look just like Manhunter. Dharmata turns to the man he thought had come to kill him but Manhunter is gone.
Haj knows nothing else of Manhunter’s activities. St. Clair thanks him and walks off. Haj removes his disguise as she fades into the distance revealing that he is Paul Kirk, the man she seeks.
Thoughts
Good start. I like it but I’m not blown away by it. I’m curious to see where the story goes next. I like the setting and way the main character is introduced. Very mysterious.
