Episode 13: Photo of the Deceased

Act 2

Taka feels lost. He goes home to see his parents to tell them the news. He makes what arrangements he can but it isn’t enough. He still feels helpless until he realizes that he needs to have a death photo taken of himself. 

Taka goes to see Mr. and Mrs. Ikeyama. She is happy to see him but it seems as though Mr. Ikeyama can’t forget what Taka told him about his business. Taka explains to them that he wants a photo taken of himself. He is about to tell them that he has received an Ikigami but then he remembers Mr. Ikeyama’s heart condition and tells them instead that it is for a reunion. 

The Ikeyamas agree to Taka’s request but in return Mr. Ikeyama asks that Terry take a death photo of him because he is going in for another operation on his heart the next day. Taka is confident that Mr. Ikeyama will survive the operation but Mr. Ikeyama announces that even if he does he plans to close his shop. 

Thoughts

Fujimoto only appears in this chapter at the very beginning when he is delivering the Ikigami. 

Most of this chapter is consumed by the reunion of Taka and the Ikeyamas. I think that Taka will suggest in the final chapter that one of his coworkers can take over running the shop.
