Reunion

The fight with the Sentinels in Anandale-on-Hudson continues and concludes. Cyclops, with a big assist from Sue Richards, reveals that Nightcrawler and other heroes are trapped within the armored bodies of the new Sentinels. The heroes end the fight and free their friends.
Sebastian Shaw gets into an argument with Henry Peter Gyrich. Shaw wants to unleash more mayhem but his reign of power comes to an end when the Sentinel Master Mold discovers that Shaw is also a mutant.
The X-Men, Avengers, and Fantastic Four head to the Hellfire Club. They get into a fight with the Sentinel Master Mold. Sue Richard’s goes looking for Franklin, her son. She finds Gyrich and the body of Sebastian Shaw. The fight is just beginning outside when a half dozen more Sentinels arrive.
Far from Earth, a Sh’iar ship return to the home world just in time to be destroyed. The source of the destructive power that vaporizes the ship is the Phoenix which has been reborn in the form of their empress, Lilandra.
Thoughts
Stuff happened. Fast read. I’m starting to lose interest in this series. I might come back to it at some point but I think I want to put it down for now. Byrne seems to be really interlacing these stories in ways that make it feel as though there will be no end. Something is always brewing in the background. I might be more interested in this series if there was a little more heft to the stories. I like the mix of characters but there are too many right now. It feels very much like an event book. X-Men plus Avengers plus Fantastic Four plus there’s Jean Grey’s story plus the Phoenix / Lilandra story plus Professor X and Kitty are somewhere else. He needs to finish something and stop starting all these storylines.
