John Porter visits Josie’s Joint in Hell’s Kitchen. He is there to sell Josie, the owner and barkeeper, superhero insurance. She is hesitant until Daredevil and Turk get into a fight in her bar and the place gets destroyed. Everything seems lost but then Mrs. Hoag of Damage Control shows up. She wants to hire Porter and has her workers rebuild Josie’s in a matter of minutes.
This is the first Damage Control story. This is one of four stories in this issue. I read this story on Marvel Unlimited. It’s a relatively fast read. This story was followed by three Damage Control 4-issue limited series.
Under normal circumstances the fight between Daredevil and Turk would have been the focus of this story.
It wasn’t until after I finished reading this story that it occurred to me that Damage Control can be abbreviated as DC.
This is an introduction to the world of Damage Control. It’s very tongue in cheek. It feels very gag heavy. I like the idea behind this series but I hope that there is more to it to than just gags or at the very least that the gags are a little better in future stories.
