Baltimore Convention Center
Baltimore, MD
Oct 22 / Day 1
The show opened today at 1 PM. I left my place at 11 AM. I drove to Baltimore, parked, and got a bite to eat at my favorite spot for lunch on Friday: Mekong Delta Cafe. I got my usual the noodle soup which has shrimp and pork. I also got a couple summer rolls but I saved those for later. The soup was very filling. I didn't even use all of the siracha sauce they gave me and it was very spicy. I needed all the napkins they gave me to wipe the tears from my eyes and my nose.
I headed to the show after lunch. I got there just after 1 PM. The show was in the same place as it was the first few times I went back in 2010-2012. I believe after that they moved it to the other end of the convention center. I think I got through the line a little faster than maybe I was supposed to. I heard one of the volunteers say that if anyone had already bought tickets they could go to the front of the line, so I did. The odd things was that there was only one other person who walked to the front of the line at the same time as me. I showed my vaccine card and got my wrist band to prove that I had been checked. I then had to get in another line to get my wrist band to prove that I had paid for admission. I didn't have to wait very long after that before I was let into the show floor.
It was around 1:30 by then. I knew that there were some panels that I wanted to go to starting at 3 PM so I walked around for a while. I found Chris Schweizer's booth. He's the creator of the Crogan Adventures Series which I have read. He was still setting up his booth. We talked a little bit. He thought he recognized me but I was wearing a mask of course. I told him that we had talked at Heroes Con in the past. I was hoping that he would have some of the comic books he recently did: The Six Sidekicks of Trigger Keaton, but he did not. I'm planning to go back and buy something from him tomorrow, probably some prints.
