Guthrie does his best to get Jack to forget Nora and move on. Jack is too focused on figuring out who might be trying to frame the Flamer to listen to Guthrie. He goes through all the archives of the Flamer he can find looking for villains who aren't behind bars. After going through all the ones on his bookshelf he he goes to a bookstore (Big Books) to look through the ones he doesn't have. Guthrie tags along and continues to try and get Jack to go out, have some fun, and forget about Nora. After going through all the archives at Big Books goes to Abundance Comics and goes through their library.
The Fader isn't very chatty but he won't leave Nora's side. He is hoping for an invite back to her place but she's not interested. Jack catches up to Nora after she ditches the Fader and Jack ditches Guthrie. He shares what he has found, namely that there's an issue missing from the Abundance Comics library which might have the name of the villain who framed the Flamer. She reluctantly takes him to see the uber collector she got some information from in an earlier issue.
The collector isn't very helpful until they promise him a pair of the Flamer's boxers, hand-delivered by the Fader. He comes through and gets them the information they were looking for: the names of the villains who showed up in the missing issue: Dr. Pitt and Prof. Pendulum.
It's good to see Jack and Nora working together again even if they they aren't back together again. It's also good to see Jack fool Guthrie for the first time, since he got super powers. What is Guthrie's problem? Is it just jealousy?
Glad to be back reading this series. Part of what I love is the look of it. I love the little panels and the facial expressions.
