Oldboy Vol. 1
1997
Chapter 2: Old Man Ambush
by Garon Tsuchiya, Nobuaki Minegishi, Kumar Sivasubramanian, Kathryn Renta
Oldboy decides to try something. He acts drunk which attracts the attention of a group of young hoodlums. They follow him into an alley where he beats them up. He needs more money. He takes just 10,000 Yen, when he could have taken considerably more.
Oldboy gets himself a meal and a beer with the money. The waitress serving him in the bar invites him home with her.
The narration by the main character seems a little clunky.
It occurs to me that the main character still doesn’t have a name. I’m gonna refer to him as Oldboy for now. I wonder if that is a translation of the title of the manga or the exact title of the manga.
Still not bad but also not all that great.
