Stories by Bill Brown aka Al Feldstein
1. Junior: On the Outs at an Outing!
Junior and Deena take a ferry up to Bear Point. Junior can’t seem to do anything right. He shows up late. He's in a rush and they get on the wrong boat. He spills chocolate milk all over Deena. He steps on another man’s picnic basket. He gets them lost in the woods at Bear Point.
2. Junior: A Record Breaking Day
It’s Junior’s birthday and he wants the new Ken Stanton album. He tells Goofy but Goofy has already bought him a present. Goofy tells Deena and Gwenny and they both buy him the album. Meanwhile, Junior asks his mother for money so he can buy the album himself.
3. Junior: Babe in Arms
Junior has to break a date with Deena to babysit his neighbor’s toddler. Deena thinks he is lying to her. The toddler turns out to be a handful.
The splash panel for this page takes the cake and is not representative of the contents of the story.
4. Deena & Gwenny: Gwenny Pulls the Wool over Deena’s Eyes!
Deena sees Gwenny buying the supplies needed to knit a sweater. Deena guesses that Deena plans to give the sweater to Junior in the hopes of winning him away from her. Deena’s guess turns out to be a bit off.
My favorite splash panel in this issue is the one at the beginning of the third story.
This comic book can be read for free at Comic Book Plus. There is a collected edition that includes the complete runs of Junior and of Sunny. It is called The Complete Junior and Sunny.
