Weapon X: Chapter Twelve
by Barry Windsor-Smith, Jim Novak
Logan tosses the Professor’s body into the fission reactor. Logan wanders through the facility without encountering anyone. He hears voices, and finds the Professor’s severed hand and the body of Doctor Cornelius. He doesn’t fully understand where is or what happened to him.
The story flashes back to an encounter Logan had outdoors with a Siberian Tiger. He kills it while the Professor, Doctor Cornelius, and Miss Hines watch from within the facility. They talk about the usefulness of the test and how Logan is handling it. He kills the men sent to apprehend him and then breaks into the facility.
The story ends with a five page segment titled Interlude and Escape where Logan wanders off into the snow. Doctor Cornelius and Miss Hines talk over the images of Logan in the snow but they are not seen.
Thoughts
There is a text piece by Larry Hama immediately following the end of the story. It was originally published in the collected edition in 1993. It mostly consists of praise for Weapon X and did not add anything to my perspective of the story.
My opinion of this story has not changed. It is not for me. I’m not sure how good it is but clearly some people love it. There is something going on in the pages of this story but I have trouble judging it. I’m not sure that I would have liked it anymore if I had read it when it first came out, serialized or in a collected edition.
