The Masterworks Series of Great Comic Book Artists 2
Jul 1983
I bought this when it first came out. I was very much into All-Star Squadron at the time. The Shining Knight was a regular in that series although he was seen less frequently after the first year or so. I probably was aware of Frank Frazetta before buying this issue between his paintings that were made into posters and book covers and his work in the 1970s revival of All-Star Comics.

Random Comics 2020-03-26
Some random comics from my collection:
I don't recall what exactly drew me to this book. I remember buying and reading this mini-series when it first came out. I don't remember much about the mini-series. I would be willing to give it another try but it isn't high on my list of things to try again.
I'm not sure that I have ever read this particular issue of Captain America.
I think I picked up this issue at a convention a few years back for a buck or two. I loved reading Unknown Soldier stories at the barber shop when I was kid. The title of this series had been changed to Unknown Soldier by the time I discovered the character. I think I've read this story but I don't have any particular recollections of it.
Essential Captain America Vol. 1
I bought this one before I really got back into reading comic books on the regular. I've read, written (in the blog) and talked about (on the podcast) a few stories from this collection. The ones that stand out in my mind are the Tales of Suspense 79-81 (Red Skull plus first appearance of the Cosmic Cube), Tales of Suspense 92-94 (first appearances of AIM and MODOK), and Tales of Suspense 97-99, Captain America 100 (Cap teams up with Black Panther for the first time).
The Butcher (1990) 2
Jun 1990
Captain America 320
Aug 1986
Star Spangled War Stories 190

Random Comics 2020-03-25
Some random comics from my collection:
I have no particular memories of this issue of Dreadstar. I haven't read Dreadstar in a long time, over 15 years. I should do something about that.
Dreadstar 11
Jun 1984
Xenozoic Tales 13
Dec 1994
I have a complete run of Xenoxoic Tales but I don't think I've read past issue 12. I started to read Xenozoic Tales from the beginning (a few years back) but I didn't get very far. I need to do something about that.
Namor, the Sub-Mariner 4
Jul 1990
I've read a good chunk of John Bryne's run on Namor (the first 18 issues as I recall) but as with his run on Alpha Flight I have never finished reading it. I don't love what I read but the series has it's moments.
Batman: A Death in the Family
A Death in the Family probably shouldn't even be in this list because I think I got rid of it. I bought it in 2014 or 2015 at Appleseed Comic Con in Fort Wayne, IN. I got rid of it because I wasn't that crazy about it and didn't see myself rereading it. I probably donated it to the county library along with a bunch of other collected editions.

Random Comics 2020-03-24
Here are some random comics from my collection:
I loved this series and wrote about it when I read it back in 2017. My thoughts on all four issues can be found here.
I haven't read this gem of a series in ages. I think I bought this series back in the late 1980s or early 1990s. Back then I think I got the complete series (all 14 issues) for something like a $1 an issue. They are reprints but even back then I think the original series was considerably more expensive.
The coloring job on the covers is different on most if not all of the reprints. The original Silver Surfer series ran for 18 issues. I'm not sure why they cut the reprint series off at 14.
I remember enjoying this series when I read it. That was over 15 years ago. I didn't buy it as it was coming out. I wasn't buying comic books back in 2001. I have also read the other two Generations series that John Byrne wrote and drew. I remember liking the first one but the third one not as much. Maybe I'll revisit these series one of these days.
This is the only Silver Age series that I have read in it's entirety. It was a good experience even if I didn't love every issue of it. My thoughts on the issues in this collection (which I read in late 2017 to early 2018) can be found here.
Captain America: Patriot 2
Nov 2010
Fantasy Masterpieces (1979) 7
Jun 1980

Superman & Batman: Generations II - 3
Dec 2001
Doom Patrol Archives Vol. 5
