Siege!
By Marv Wolfman, Keith Pollard, Romeo Tanghal
Sarah Sims ex-boyfriend, Mark, returns. He wants her back. She is no longer interested in him but he won’t take no for an answer. He takes a gun from a policeman and then barricades them in a sporting good store. The situation goes from bad to worse when Mark shoots the man behind the counter.
Sarah sneaks away while Mark is threatening the other people in the store and calls Titans Tower. She gets a hold of Garfield and lets him know what’s going on. Cyborg makes it to the sporting goods store before the others. In this case the others is just Changeling and Raven.
Cyborg tries a frontal assault but Mark blasts him with a hunting rifle he got from the sporting goods store. Raven and Changeling arrive in time to help Cyborg get back on his feet. Raven heals him even though she fears that using her powers will corrupt her and turn her against her friends.
Changeling sneaks in as a spider and attacks Mark as an ape but is forced to back off when Mark threatens the hostages. Raven teleports in and tries talking some sense into Mark. She heals the man that Mark shot. Cyborg cuts through the roof of the building. He sees what Raven is doing and holds off until it looks like Mark is going to shoot Sarah.
Sarah and the hostages are saved. No one gets shot or killed, including Mark. Vic seems to do a fair amount of soul searching in this issue. He thinks about his feelings for Sarah as he tries to figure how to deal with Mark.
Thoughts
There are some character moments here but this one-shot lacks the punch that other stories in this series have had.
