Ikigami: The Ultimate Limit Vol 8
By Motoro Mase
Episode 15: Crime and Punishment
Act 3
Masato gets back on his bicycle. Yuki turns her car around and runs him off the road again. Masato decides he’s had enough. He stands in the middle of the road and presents himself as a target, inviting her to hit him with her car. She attempts to but he dives out of the way at the last second.
She gets out of her car. He is still on the ground. She confronts him with tears in her eyes. He makes no attempt to try dissuade her of his guilt in killing her boyfriend. He does suggest that she needs to let go of her feelings of anger towards him. She does not. She quite angrily and tearfully tells him that she never will. He dies on the road. She watches him expire.
Inspector Kaga is suspicious of Yuki, suspicious that she will expose the fact that Masato was a convicted felon. She insists that Fujimoto have her placed under observation.
Yuki finally makes peace with Hideki’s family. She learns to forgive Masato. She turns in the petition signatures that he collected to make the intersection, where Hideki died, a safer one. The surveillance of Yuki is abandoned.
Fujimoto still wonders if he is under surveillance. He is but he has yet to spot them.
Thoughts
I still have no recollection of this episode but I found the ending to be very moving. The verbal confrontation between Masato and Yuki was strong stuff. They both have very strong feelings.
Who exactly is watching Fujimoto? Is it someone sent by Kaga or someone else?
