Down Among the Dinosaurs
by David Pepose, Jorge Santiago Jr, Jasen Smith, Colin Bell
Spencer and Locke arrive at the La Brea Tar Pits. Augustus Locke is there with several of his men. He wants the drugs that he paid for returned to him. Locke takes on his father and his father’s henchmen while Spencer looks after Hero and keeps her safe.
In the course of the fight it is revealed that Sofie was a drug mule. Locke kills his father and then goes after Sofie’s killer, Principal Scabtree.
I am confused about Hero’s parentage. Augustus seems to say that he’s her grandfather but Locke (the cop) never acts like he’s her father. Does that mean that Sofie was Augustus’ daughter by a different mother? I’m confused.
Overall I think this story flowed a little too quickly for me to enjoy it. There was also a little too much tell and not enough show. I like the idea behind this story but I think it needed more time to breathe and a little better connective tissue tying it all together.
