Faces: Part 2
by Matt Wagner, Willie Schubert, Steve Oliff
Batman continues to try to find Two-Face and figure out why he’s killing plastic surgeons.
Two-Face kills another plastic surgeon, right under Batman’s nose, without getting caught. Batman thought he had every eventuality covered only to discover that Two-Face was one step ahead of him.
Bruce confronts Paul d’Urberville and finds out that d’Urberville is being blackmailed.
Nelson Wren gets another visit from Manon. She spends the night with him but she’s gone when he wakes up later that night. Wren runs around town looking for Manon but she guns him down when they finally cross paths.
Batman’s sleuthing leads him to the Gothzepplin, a dirigible built by Waynetech. It also leads him into a trap set by Two-Face. He wakes up tied to the nose of the dirigible.
Thoughts
It seems like it was just by chance that Wren found Manon later that night. Too bad for him, considering her reaction to seeing him again.
I love how Wagner is telling this story. It is the combination of the visuals and the way he is layering together the different plot threads. I’m not picking it all up on the first read but I’m okay with that.
Letters Page
Four letters from readers in response to Flyer by Howard Chaykin and Gil Kane (LotDK 22-24). I bought those issues at Heroes Con in 2022 but have yet to read them. Some readers also have opinions as to whether the letter page should get a catchy name.
Inside DC 22: We’ve Got a Crisis Here
Editor Michael Eury responds to a letter from a fan who has questions about the impact of Crisis on Infinite Earths on the post-Crisis DCU.
