Fantastic Four 492

Fantastic Four 492

Sentient (Part 2 of 3)
By Mark Waid, Mike Wieringo, Karl Kesel

The fight with the living equation, which turns out to be an expression, according to Mr. Fantastic, continues, rages on. When Sue and Ben aren’t looking the math looking thing dives into Sue’s communicator and transports it self to Johnny’s communicator.

Johnny is in the middle of a business meeting near a pool with supermodels in skimpy outfits. Someone is trying to sell him on the idea of licensing unstable molecules to a clothing designer. Johnny’s about to sign a business agreement when the living math expression materializes from his communicator. It wants to kill Johnny. They fight.

Sue and Ben return to the Baxter Building. Reed is helping them recover from their injuries. They are convinced that Johnny is the one responsible for messing with Reed’s PDA until Franklin pipes up and admits that he’s the one who did it. He was jealous of all the attention his sister was getting. Before this conversation can get very far the Hunan Torch crashes through the window. The living expression isn't far behind him.

The fight is still ongoing. Reed figures out that the living expression is just that and then takes off into another dimension. He believes that the expression thinks that Reed is it’s equal. He needs the learn more about it before he will know how to deal with it.

The story gets a little more interesting once Reed's analysis of the situation is added to the mix. I'm curious to see how this all winds up in the final installment. I have more faith now than I did after the first one that I will be satisfied with the story as a whole after I finish reading it.
