The Secret Origin of Jessica Jones (Part 1 of 2)
By Brian Michael Bendis, Michael Gaydos
Jessica Jones went to high school with Peter Parker, had a crush on him before he was bit by a radioactive spider. She was almost hit by a truck full of radioactive material while crossing the street, like young Matthew Murdock. She had a semi-normal life as a teen until the day she lost her parents and her brother. They were all driving to Disney World when her father got distracted and drove into a military convoy carrying radioactive material. Jessica was in a coma for six months but eventually she came to, the day that Galactus first tried to consume the Earth. This installment ends with her getting adopted by a family.
More or less run of the mill for this series. The art gets the job done. It has a slightly different look to it. I think Gaydos is going for something that resembles Steve Ditko’s work in the pages with Peter Parker.
