Poison - Part 3
By Greg Rucka, Michael Lark, Tyler Boss, Santi Arcas, Jodi Wynne, Owen Freeman, Eric Trautmann, David Brothers
Corporal Casey Solomon takes charge of her fire team and leads them further into Hock Territory. They leave Commander Forever Carlyle behind. She is down and unresponsive after getting shot in the head. Solomon takes Forever’s sword with her.
Alarms go off in Compound Sequoia, alerting Bethany and the others that Forever is down. Bethany doesn’t know what to do. She calls James who is equally distressed by the news. He reaches out to Johanna but she’s meeting with Mason and doesn’t take his call.
Johanna sends Mason to Sequoia to get Forever. She is planning to auction her sister off to the highest bidder and then form an alliance with them.
Solomon and her fire team scout ahead using Forever’s map. They can see that they are badly outnumbered.
Forever’s body starts to heal itself. She returns to consciousness just as a fire team of Hock’s troops find her. She kills them while she is still in pain as her body heals itself.
Thoughts
Great chapter. The story continues to plod forward slowly. The layering of the different bits of it continues to please and impress me.
Johanna strikes me as being no smarter than her twin. Once she has sold Forever she would have little to nothing left in the way of capital. She has more ambition and determination than Jonah. I will give her that much. She is her father’s daughter in that sense even if she isn’t loyal to him.
Forever still has a mission to complete in Duluth. How does the story proceed from here? Will she catch up to Corporal Solomon’s fire team before they try continuing with her mission? Will Michael Bennett be able to find the key to saving Malcolm’s life?
