Lovers Die at Dusk - Part 2
by Don McGregor, Gene Colman, John Costanza, Tom Ziuko, Alan Gold
Dusk avoids falling to his death off the Empire State Building. He grapples with one of the men who tried to kill him and then falls on a ledge. He makes his way along the snowy ledge and crashes through an office window. The two men catch up to him before he can get very far. They shoot a and kill a security guard while trying to kill Dusk.
Dusk escapes the building and makes his way back to Joyce’s apartment only to discover that she’s been murdered. Lieutenant Abraham of the NYPD is there. Dusk works with him to identify the men who tried to kill him. Dusk goes to the funeral where he runs into Arthur Squire, an old acquaintance of Joyce. Dusk tries interrogating Squire and almost beats the man up but Lt. Abraham grabs him before he can get started.
Dusk gets a call from Squire that evening. Squire thinks that someone is targeting him and asks Dusk to meet him at his apartment. Dusk arrives at Squire’s apartment but Squire has been murdered by the time Dusk gets there. The killers, the same two men who tried to murder Dusk, are still there, waiting for him. Dusk takes off down the fire escape and makes it on to the subway where the killers catch up to him.
Thoughts
The story continues to move forward. Squire seemed like the possible villain until he turned up dead. I didn’t foresee the death of Joyce. I suspect that her ex-husband is behind the attempts on Dusk’s life.
I’m not overwhelmed by the story at this point. It is good but the look of the art is throwing me off. I think I prefer inked art or if they are just going to print the pencil art then they should have done so with shading instead of colors.
