Little Girl Lost
by Chris Claremont, John Buscema, Tom Palmer, Tom Orzechowski, Glynis Wein, Louise Jones
This story picks up where Uncanny X-Men 160 left off. The X-Men departed Limbo but Illyana was left behind and stuck there for years. It was only a moment to the X-Men but 6 years passed before Illyana made it back.
Illyana interacts with just three people in this chapter: Belasco, Storm, and Cat. Belasco wants her by his side, forever. He sees potential in her. He creates the first bloodstone from Illyana’s ethereal form. Once he has all five bloodstones she will be bound to him for all time.
Storm tries to teach Illyana what she knows. Storm was once Belasco’s pupil but she turned against him. She hopes that she can educate Illyana to do the same.
Cat worries that Illyana is very likely to wind up as Belasco’s follower. Cat thinks the safest thing to do is kill Illyana. Belasco will be unstoppable with Illyana by his side. That is not a risk that Cat wants to take.
Thoughts
This is a very wordy story. I know I’ve read some but I don’t recall if I have read all of this limited series before. I wonder how much of this story Chris Claremont had planned when he wrote Uncanny X-Men 160.
